Cisco Ready
Amdocs is a Preferred Solution Developer in the Cisco Developer Network (CDN), providing joint customers with end-to-end integrated solutions for the mobile packet core for 3G and 4G networks.
The CDN unites Cisco with third-party developers of hardware and software to deliver tested interoperable solutions to joint customers. As part of the program, the Amdocs Policy Controller (PCRF) and Home Subscriber Server (HSS) have undergone extensive interoperability verification testing (IVT) with Cisco’s mobile packet core solution for 3G and 4G networks.
The Amdocs HSS and PCRF completed IVT with the Cisco ASR 5000 for the mobile packet core, including the PCRF Gx and Gy interfaces to the packet data network gateway and the HSS S6a and STa interfaces to the Mobility Management Entity (MME) for LTE, and the PCRF Gx/Gx+, and Gy interfaces to the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) for HSPA.
As a Preferred Solution Developer, Amdocs has worked closely with Cisco to deliver enhanced solutions that deliver greater interoperability with Cisco networking solutions. Amdocsalso shares Cisco’s strong commitment to customer service and satisfaction, has completed IVT based on criteria set forth by Cisco, and can provide their customers 24 hour, 7 days a week customer support.
Unified Computing System
The Amdocs PCRF and HSS are now generally available on the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) for 3G and 4G mobile packet core networks, enabling service providers to obtain greater cost/performance from their mobile packet core.
The Cisco UCS platform unifies network, computer, storage access, and virtualization resources in a cohesive system to reduce total cost of ownership, increase business agility, and improve productivity for the next generation data center.
Industry-First Performance Benchmarks for 3G and 4G Control Plane
The European Advanced Network Test Center (EANTC) recently conducted independent 3G and LTE mobile packet core tests which validated the performance and scalability of Amdocs' control plane solution – the Amdocs Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and Policy Controller (PCRF) – and the Cisco ASR 5000 under conditions that simulated a large, data-centric service provider network. For more on the test results, read the Heavy Reading report “Control Plane Scalability and Performance Requirements for 3G and LTE Networks” and the Light Reading article “Testing the next generation mobile network.”
