Amdocs offers a modular portfolio of pre-integrated intelligent broadband control products designed to help service providers transform to 4G, optimize existing networks, and innovate with new services.

What are Intelligent Broadband Controls?
Amdocs defines intelligent broadband controls as the powerful combination of service and policy controls which are applied to subscribers and devices.

Service control manages network access. It uses static policy to control how and under which circumstances access to the network is granted. An example is when a subscriber is roaming or a time of day control that is applied to a machine-to-machine (M2M) application.

Policy control is dynamic in nature and controls what happens to the device or subscriber when they are on the network; for example, if accessing a video and a bandwidth boost is needed, or for Quality of Service (QoS) prioritization for a public safety application.

Together, service control and policy control act as the critical, cerebral function of a mobile operator's network enabling the operator to offer innovative services to consumers, enterprises, and machine markets.
