Policy Controller

Service Providers today face challenges presented by a fiercely competitive industry and conflicting requirements. Mobile phone service, once a voice-only offering, is increasingly dominated by applications that depend on the transmission of data. Customers not only want but also expect the latest data applications to be available on their mobile devices: email, GPS, web surfing, social networking, and more.

Service Providers must:

  • Respond quickly to expectations or risk losing customers.
  • Find efficient and effective ways to manage application deployment.
  • Deal with skyrocketing bandwidth demands as a result of newly deployed applications.

The Bridgewater Systems Policy Controller

The Bridgewater Systems Policy Controller can help Service Providers

  • Manage scarce bandwidth resources to ensure that all customers enjoy the same quality of service, increasing overall customer satisfaction.
  • React quickly to growing demands for applications and content that increase the likelihood of attracting new customers as well as keeping existing customers (reducing churn).
  • Provide new revenue opportunities and reduce the chance of becoming a dumb pipe where content providers generate money and the Service Provider just provides bandwidth.
  • Offer targeted services to customers such as bandwidth packages (tiered services) and applications to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Offer self-management capabilities for subscribers’ accounts by providing service web portals that subscribers can log into or be redirected to as well as being able to automatically turn up service (OTA). This leads to a reduction in operating expenses as customers will not have to call in to alter services.

The Policy Controller offers both network and application policy control. To learn more about:
